Clay Creek Falls, Dahlonega GA 30533
THE FALLS OF CLAY CREEK - One of Dahlonega's natural wonders on this striking 117+/- acre property. Clay Creek forms in the Hightower Basin section of Lumpkin County from a myriad of small springs and branches and gathers strength and flow to hurl itself in a noisy gushing cascade over the Georgia granite outcroppings on this property.
There's an excellent site above the Falls for a home or a lodge that would look straight out onto the tumbling waters. Down below the Falls is a granite-walled, natural amphitheater creek-side area excellent for picnic or pavilion or events. Some four-tenths of a mile of prime waters flow through the edge of this property around large boulders that jut up from the stream and at one point the stream separates and flows around a long woodsy island. Other little springs and branches form and add additional little streams across the property and into the Creek.
An upstream portion of the property opens up into a rounded cove alongside the Creek, canopied with large timber but open and scenic underneath; two cabins reside here. The upper portion of the property is comprised of a flat ridgeline nicely covered with timber. From up here long range panoramas can be absorbed - to the north you can see the extent of the Blue Ridge Mountains all the way out towards Amicalola Falls State Park. Looking east you can see Crown Mountain adjacent to Downtown Dahlonega, and the bright gold spire you'll recognize as the gold-plated (real gold!) dome of the Price Memorial building of the University of North Georgia. The views from up are truly expansive; despite being in the mountains there are not a lot of properties in the area that actually have a "real" mountain view and therefore are that much more special when they exist. Select thinning of the timber on the ridgeline will yield year-round vistas.
This is a property that would work well either as a residential or recreational tract; or for a group activity/resort/camp property. The Falls offers a definitive focal point for a residence or lodge and the adjacent cove has a pretty open setting. Interesting and varied terrain along with a a pretty setting would work well for developing hiking trails that wind around the scenic features and up around the ridgelines and back down along the creek.
The property offers paved County Road frontage, power, telephone/dsl, and two occupiable cabins. The proximity is only 5 minutes from Downtown Dahlonega and the location offers convenient access to Hwy. 400 and the Metro Atlanta area; and you're maybe only 20 minutes away from major shopping, dining, and theatres.
As a personal recreational property, for a permanent residence, or for a group endeavor with an inspirational setting this tract offers strong appeal and unique features rare on private holdings. $8,000/acre.
